The Grip works with all non-electrical equipment used to support and modify the lighting and works closely with the Gaffer and their crew on a film production. The Grip also assembles and maintains all the equipment that supports cameras. This equipment may include tripods, dollies, tracks, jibs, cranes, and static rigs. Other grip equipment includes C-stands, flags, gobos, cucoloris’, overhead butterfly kits, and many other unique tools which are kept on a Grip truck. The Grip may also operate a camera dolly, this position is known as the Dolly Grip. In this course you will learn the responsibilities of being a Grip, as well as how to use some of the basic grip equipment used on a film production. You will also get a brief history lesson into the origins of some of the most common grip equipment used in the film industry.
